How to Add Trade Alerts

The QuantDirection database has thousands of price conditions. When you subscribed you were offered a default package of trade alerts which represent many of our higher probability and more popular price conditions. Depending on your Trading Style, familarity with our platform, and experience as a Trader you may wish to add new price conditions or replace some of the price conditions that are in your alert queue under Manage Alerts. to replace price conditions we recommend that you first remove any undesirable price conditions. See 'How to Manage your Trade Alerts' for instructions on how to delete some or all of your existing alerts.

To add Trade Alerts you will start at Alert Preferences. Go to:

  1. Login to your Dashboard.
  2. From the Dashboard Select the 'Alert Engine' tile and then from the menu on the top left select 'Alert Preferences'.
  3. It's not necessary to modify any alert preferences but we recommend you take a look at your existing alert preferences before adding more alerts. After reviewing and modifying as needed click on 'Next' to go to 'Trade Alert Profile'.
  4. Complete the 'Trade Alert Profile' form. The form is designed to help you describe the type of trader you are and the trades you like to do. All fields are optional. You can select one value or multiple values in any field. To select multiple values, hold down the Ctrl key while you select the desired values.
    1. What best describes your trading strategy? This question selects based on the length of time you hold your trades. You may instead select based on Question #2:
    2. How long do you like to hold your trades? You can select price conditions which begin and end within a single trading day (Intraday), conditions that begin at market open and end at market close (One Day), or longer conditions from multiple days, to a trading week or multiple weeks.
    3. Select the symbols you like to trade. Here you can select any or all. There are ETFs, SPX options only, Futures and Individual Stocks. You can select any combination.
    4. If you are focused only on Options you can select based on the Options Instruments you use the most. You can select any one, combination or all.
    5. Select the days of the week you prefer to trade. Many conditions can start on any day while others will only start on a particular day. By not selecting any specific day(s) you will only receive conditions that can start on anyday. However not selecting specific days will limit the conditions you will be alerted on. It is recommended to also select specific days, leaving out any days you do not want condtions alerted on.
    6. Probability Levels: These selections filter out any conditions which do not meet your minimum probability thresholds. There are two types: Minimum & Maximum.
      1. Minimum Probability defines a threshold you want all probabilities to be higher than. We provide a range of >75% to >95%. The higher the probability the fewer the conditions you are will be alerted on.
      2. Maximum Probability defines a threhsold which you want all probabilities to be less than. Options sellers may benefit from knowing which conditions have a very low liklihood of behaving as expected. This can be used to sell options at a place where price direction is unlikley to go. We provide a range of <25% to <5%.

Once you have completed the selections than click on Select. You wil see a Pop Up 'Confirm Trade Alerts' instructing you to scroll up to the top. Close this dialog box and scroll to the top. You will see a checkbox 'Confirm Trade Alerts'. Make sure that checkbox is checked and click on 'Confirm Trade Alerts'.
